Halloween 2013

Ooh Halloween! Best of all the holidays! Y'all know how much I enjoy posting spooky drawings around this time of the year. So here's a quick sketch in honour of the season. Hope everyone gets a chance to dress up or watch a scary movie!

Just don't eat any candy that's been opened! And look both ways before you cross the street! And if you see a mysterious figure - perhaps a woman? perhaps not - emerging from the darkness, cloaked in odd tattered robes. Beckoning towards you with large bony fingers, like twigs, like a spider's legs, curling upwards with promises of sugar and toys. Her eyes cool and glassy, her mouth twisted in a crooked, hungry grin... If you see such a figure: run! RUN! For she is not what she seems...

Halloween 2012

Oh jeez oh jeez oh jeez! Halloween Halloween HALLOWEEN!

Halloween 2012

Hey, so do you know it's Halloween in two days? I say this every year, but Halloween is actually my favorite holiday. And I don’t mind repeating it because with each passing year IT CONTINUES TO BE TRUE! Dressing up, black cats, spider webs, the whole deal, it always gets me pumped. And I decided to celebrate things on the blog this year with a bit of a spooky tribute to good old Normy Rockwell.

Process for Halloween 2012

I included some quick process images as well, just for fun. I don't know if anyone else is interested in this stuff, but process is something I happen to be obsessed with. And I had some scans for this drawing, so I figured why not share. You can see the quick concept sketches I did, trying to get a feel for the Rockwell original. Then comes the initial rough drawing, nice and quick and messy on cheap paper, in order to figure out where things fit. I then lightbox that image and draw over it on bristol to get the much tighter final pencils, and then I ink over that. Sometimes I like the black and white inks better than the final colour version of some drawings. But ya know, so it goes. Click the image to view a larger, more detailed version.

Anyway, blah blah blah, art art art. I hope you guys have a happy Halloween. Eat some candy and jump in some leaves and stay up late and watch a horror movie or something! It's that time of year, ya know. Might as well enjoy it!

Halloween 2011

Okay, you guys. Guess what? Guess what? HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Halloween 2011

Oh man, oh man. So Halloween is my favourite holiday of all the holidays, and I am always extremely excited every time it comes around. Actually, I wanted to do something big on the blog for it this year, but as soon as I started working on my plan I got swamped with work and wasn't able to follow through. Ah well. So it goes. But hopefully this fun little illustration will suffice in its stead!

I hope everyone reading this has a wicked happy Halloween! And I hope you all get a chance to dress up, or go to a party, or at least watch a scary movie or something. Halloween only comes once a year, ya know! Ya gotta enjoy it while it's around!

Halloween!

Oh my god you guys, it's my favourite holidayyyy. And, you know, Halloween so... zombies, right?

Zombie Sketches

I don't know what it is, but Halloween always fills me with such excitement. Something about the atmosphere, and people dressing up. And just everything looking so playfully sinister.

I had all these ambitions to make a big thing of it this year too. But then I got sick. So now I'm sitting around blowing my nose and watching a butt-load of horror movies instead. One may perhaps ask if this in some way diminishes the awesomeness of Halloween? If it causes Halloween to be somehow lesser? To which I reply: No. In no way whatsoever. You goddamn fool.
